Bekkers - McLaren Vale Syrah Grenache 2021:

98 Punkte - James Halliday_The Weekend Australian:

"It’s the depth of colour that draws the intake of breath, and setting the pace of the wine that, through some vinous magic simultaneously offers elegance and power. Plum, blackberry and black cherry provide the fruit flavours, welded together on the lingering finish."- James Halliday

98 points, drink to 2038

2021 Bekkers - Syrah Grenache

94 Points - Erin Larkin (RobertParker.com):

"The 2021 Syrah Grenache is concentrated, dark and almost brooding, with notes of blackberry, mulberry, licorice, resin and roast beef crust. This is spicy like aniseed, inky and dark, with clove and star anise. It is significantly darker in aspect and countenance than I expected. It's always good to remember you don't know everything—wines like this one remind me. There is sweet roasted beetroot, bloodroot, dolce paprika and black tea. You can drink this at any time, but I actually think it will be better in the future. Like so many of the 2021 reds from South Australia, this is a cellaring proposition of the highest order. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." -Wine Advocate

96 Punkte - James Suckling:

"This is so good. Rich, layered and fresh, reflecting propitious sourcing across Blewitt Springs, Seaview and Kangarilla. Hand-picked, extracted judiciously and aged in used 500L barrels and concrete. A small portion (18%) of whole bunches imparts seasoning to the swathe of dark fruits, clove, pepper, cinnamon, tamarind, licorice root and allspice. The trajectory is something to behold and it picks up steam with aeration in the glass. Beef bouillon, nourishing, at its core. There is a lot going on here and yet this majestic wine is as cerebral or as visceral as the moment suits. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - Aug 2023, Ned Goodwin

96 Punkte - The Real Review:

"Intense ruby and purple hues in the glass. A heady melange of spices and fruits leaps out and demands your attention. Medium to full bodied but there is an elegance to its poise that sings of quality fruit and deft wine making. Great length and drive, it lingers for an age on the palate. Drink 2023–2038" - 16 APR 2023, Stuart Knox

97 Punkte - The Vintage Journal:

"Medium deep crimson. Attractive blackberry pastille, dark plum, hint black pepper aromas with roasted chestnut, hint wax polish notes. Superbly concentrated, buoyant and complex wine with pure blackberry fruits, fine slinky textures, lovely roasted chestnut marzipan notes and well-integrated fresh acidity. Finishes chalky firm and minerally. Impressively balanced wine with lovely definition and complexity."- Andrew Caillard MW

Drink 2025 - 2035 14% alc

97 Punkte - Rob Geddes MW:

"Why isn't there more wine like this from McLaren Vale? Great colour and style here. A fragrant wine with intense and complex aromas, pepper, blue and red fruits, meaty, blood and minerals. The medium palate weaves a wonderous course with its soft dense tannins packed equally from front to back; the mouth filling black fruits turn smoked meat savoury and filled with delicious McLaren Vale tannins to close. The richness of McLaren Vale with elegance. Each wine in this company has its own personality. Top drop." - Rob Geddes
